Investor Occupation Permit
If you are establishing or acquiring a business in Mauritius, the Investor OP is your primary route. It allows you to run your company and live in Mauritius for up to 10 years.
Investor OP
- Minimum initial investment of USD 50,000
- Minimum turnover MUR 1.5M from Year 1 (MUR 3M from Year 3+)
- Valid for 10 years, renewable
- Permit fee: USD 1,000 on approval
- USD 50 non-refundable application fee
- Dependants covered under the same permit
Self-Employed Occupation Permit
Designed for freelancers, consultants and solo professionals who want to operate independently from Mauritius, serving both local and international clients.
Self-Employed OP
- Investment of USD 50,000 in a professional activity
- 3 letters of intent from prospective clients required
- Minimum income MUR 750,000/year from Year 1
- Valid for 10 years, renewable
- Services sector only (not goods/trading)
- Permit fee: USD 1,000 on approval
Innovator Occupation Permit
The Innovator OP is tailored for tech founders, startup entrepreneurs and those building genuinely innovative projects. Uniquely, there is no minimum investment requirement.
Innovator OP
- No minimum investment required
- Submit an innovative project to the EDB for concept evaluation
- Or register with an MRIC-accredited incubator
- Valid for 10 years, renewable
- Ideal for tech, SaaS, deep-tech and startup founders
- Permit fee: USD 1,000 on approval
